A shining Light

Do you remember the children's song, This Little Light of Mine?  Our lesson today made me think of that song.  Our scripture is Matthew 5:14-16.

 14) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

15) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16)  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Jesus is speaking in this passage.  He says, Christians spread the gospel. Let your light go forth to this dark world.

A  church stands as a beacon in a community.  At the end of January, our neighbor called our house.  He said, I have been by your church two Sundays in a row and noticed your car was not there.  I thought something must be wrong and I wanted to make sure you were okay.  What you do or don't do impacts other people.
