Nehemiah's Commission

Nehemiah 2:11-20 shows the blessings of God still flowing for Nehemiah.  When Nehemiah got to Jerusalem he rested for three days.  He took a few men with him and silently inspected the city by night to see what needed to be done.

He gathered the key Jewish leaders and said, "You see the distress we are in, Jerusalem is in waste. The gates are burned, and the walls need to be repaired.  Let us build up the walls of Jerusalem." He told them the hand of God was good to him.  He also had the king's blessing and resources. They said, "Let us rise up and build!" The bible says, they strengthened their hands for this good work.

Psalm 133: 1 says Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Have you laid down at night and just when you turned off the light, you hear a mosquito buzzing around?  What did you do? I turned the light back on to find that aggravating bloodsucker.  Well, Nehemiah had three human mosquitos that aggravated him, Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian.  Who laughed them to scorn when they heard they were planning to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. They even said are you rebelling against the king?  Nehemiah told them God of Heaven will prosper us.  We will arise and build, but you will have no portion, nor right, nor memorial in Jerusalem.  Unfortunately, Nehemiah will see the three amigos a few more times.
