Spiritual Food

     I have a hummingbird feeder in my backyard. I can watch from my sunroom as the birds hover at the feeder. Recently, I watched in amazement as two hummingbirds competed for food all day. They were constantly coming and going to the feeder and sometimes fighting for nourishment. 

     The hummingbirds drink the sweet sugar water because they are thirsty, and they feed the food to their offspring.  It got me thinking how God wants us to thirst after Him, feast on his word and then spread it to others. Matthew 5:6 says Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. 

     Picture the hummingbirds flying back and forth in your mind, giving nutrients to their families. Now compare yourself feasting on God's Holy Word the way the hummingbirds were feasting on the sugar water! Like the baby, hummingbirds depend on momma to nourish them; your Heavenly Father wants you to receive spiritual nourishment from Him daily and share it with others.
