The Borrowed Tomb
When the evening had come, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, went boldly to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus. Pilate asked the centurion if Jesus was dead. After confirmation, he granted the body to be released to Joseph.
Nicodemus came with a mixture of myrrh and aloes. Together they took the body down and wound it in linen cloth with the spices, as the manner of the Jews for their burial.
Now In the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher wherein no man had laid. They laid Jesus body in the tomb and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulcher.
Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.
The next day, the Chief priests and Pharisees went to Pilate. They told him that Jesus said, "After three days, I will rise again." They wanted to make sure the body would not be stolen. They asked for the sepulcher be made sure and for a watchman to be at the sepulcher.
Pilate told them to make the sepulcher as sure as you can and you can have a watch. They went their way and made the sepulcher sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
