The Highway
When I was a child we spent our Sunday afternoons sitting on my grandparent's front porch, watching the cars go by. Highway 24 was the main road going through Beulaville, NC. My brother and I enjoyed playing games as the cars passed by. I would say, " all the blue cars are mine." My brother had all the red cars. When we got tired of that game, I would say, " the next car is mine." The next car would be his. Boy, we had some nice cars! We also laughed when one of us would get a clunker. Those were the good old days when cars would leisurely drive down the highway. We could enjoy the outdoors and entertain ourselves. Now it takes all kinds of toys, video games, and gadgets to entertain children.
My grandparent's home is long gone. They had to move the house in order to widen the road. I guess that was best. Now, it would be impossible to keep up with the cars on that four lane highway. Those were good times and great memories.
Have you ever looked at a highway and wondered where it begins and ends? Our life is like a highway. We have a beginning and end. Right now, we are in the middle of the road. Some of us have experienced pot holes, curves, and dead ends. Others have seen valleys, mountain peaks, and bridges. I pray all of us are on the same road and all our pathways lead us straight to God!!
The Kings Highway!!
