The Salt of the Earth

    Jesus said in Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

    Only the genuinely born-again person is salt and can help meet the needs of the world, by spreading the gospel from generation to generation. 

    Salt adds flavoring, heals wounds, melts ice, and acts as a preservative. Salt also causes thirst. 

    A christian is a moral and spiritual influence in this fallen world.  Kind words can melt a hard heart and heal a broken spirit. When you have Jesus in your heart, you thirst to know him more.  The persons that don't know Jesus, thirsts for what you have.  

    It is dangerously easy for christians to become diluted and lose their salty preserving influence in the world.  

Colossians 4:6

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
