The Sovereignty of God
Have you ever said something about someone and later wished you had not said anything. This is what happened to Aaron and Miriam, Moses' brother and sister. Read Numbers chapter 12 to see how God handled their sin.
Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman he had married. They said since the Lord speaks to Moses, why doesn't he speak to us. And the Lord heard what they said.
The Lord told Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to go to the Tabernacle. The Lord came down in a pillar of a cloud and stood in the doorway of the tabernacle. He called Aaron and Miriam, and they came forth.
He told them if there was a prophet among them, he would speak to them in a dream or vision. He told them Moses was faithful in all his house. He will speak with him mouth to mouth, not as they did with dark speeches against his servant, Moses.
The cloud departed from the tabernacle. Miriam became leprous, white as snow.
Aaron said unto Moses, we have done foolishly and sinned, lay not the sin upon us.
Moses cried unto the Lord, asking for Miriam to be healed. The Lord replied, she should be shut out of the camp for seven days. Then she can be received back into the camp.
1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: But the face of the LORD is against them that do evil.
